Hello & Welcome back to my blog.
I haven't made a blog post in a very long time but going to try and get back into so I thought I would start off with some new makeup purchases from NYX & Zoeva, give you my opinion and view on them and also some swatches as well. Hope you enjoy x
NYX Cosmetics Contour & Highlight Palette £18.00 from Boots/NYX/Feel Unique
The NYX contour & highlight palette comes with 8 shades. On the first row you have 1 highlighting shade,1 very light shade, 1 banana/yellow shade and 1 light/medium shade. On the second row you have a medium brown shade, golden bronze shade, medium to dark shade and a dark shade. For my skin tone I have used a small amount of the banana shade under my eyes and after I have cream contoured with my Mehron Contour & Highlight palette, i mix together the 2 first shades in the 2nd row, to contour with. I find these are the perfect mix for my skin tone but with fake tan on, i would use a slight bit of the 3rd shade. They are very highly pigmented and blend like a dream. I love the diverse shades and how the price is very reasonable. I highly recommend if you are looking for a contour palette and don't want to splash the cash but still want to get a good product from it. Only thing I would say is I don't use every shade on the palette but I think that's the beauty of the palette because anyone can use it!
NYX Sculpt & Highlight Face Duo - Shade Caramel/Vanilla £9.00 Boots/NYX/Asos
The NYX Sculpt & Highlight Face Duo is a double ended liquid/cream contour and highlight product with a doe foot applicator which makes it very easy to apply. I had seen Malin from Love Island using this in one of her makeup tutorials and saying how much she loved it and i loved how it looked on her so i purchased it, however I looked at swatches and chanced it with the shade and I would have chosen a lighter shade but the dark shade works for me to contour with but the lighter shade isn't light enough for highlighting my skin. However with fake tan on, they both work. The coverage is medium and i love how compact the product is. Although I don't think i would purchase again because it's quite hard to blend out the contour shade. I use a beauty blender which blends like a dream but it takes ages for this product to blend into my skin whereas my Mehron cream palette blends instantly so i've been going for that more than this, also you don't get a lot of product in it but the price is really good for what it is. I'm glad i've tried it and I will use it but won't purchase again.
NYX Liquid Suede in shade "Soft Spoken" £6.50 on Boots and NYX
I was having a browse online and had heard such good things about NYX lip products, especially the liquid ones so I had a look at some swatches online and decided to order the Liquid Suede in the shade Soft Spoken. It applies so smoothly and evenly, i apply Rimmel Lipliner in cappuccino before hand and then apply this over the top and it looks amazing. I always get asked what i'm wearing on my lips! I normally go for a gloss finish but i'm loving the matte finish at the moment. I have heard a lot of people saying how drying these kind of products are but i've been using it for a couple of weeks now and it hasn't dried my lips out at all but i do also apply the malibu lip balm every day which may also help! I really highly reccomend these liquid lipsticks, i think this one is brilliant & so good for the money. The only downside to these is the colour range, it isn't great i wish there was more nudes, pinks and burgundy colours but i want to try the Nyx Lingerie's as the colour range is better.
NYX Matte Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray - £7.00 Boots/NYX
So i was on the hunt for a matte setting spray as I have oily skin and when i'm at work running around (waitress) my face sweats a lot and i wanted to find something that was going to prevent this. Now we're getting into Winter i obviously won't be sweating as much as work but during the summer i was and i've only just bought this NYX setting spray and im loving it so far. I was walking around the NYX counter in Selfridges and saw it so thought i would give it a try for only £7.00 as i didn't want to splurge on the Urban Decay one until i had given this a try. I've been using it at work and found my face hasn't gone as oily as normal, my makeup has lasted a little bit more (although it normally lasts quite long anyway) and my face hasn't been sweating as much (i'm not sure if this is because its got colder or whether its the spray!) I'm really happy with this product and am going to continue using it and will hopefully re purchase! I highly reccomend if you have oily skin like me and become very shiny throughout the day where you don't have the opportunity to keep powdering up or you just simply can't be bothered to keep powdering (i don't blame you).
Zoeva Rose Golden Palette - £18.00 on Beauty Bay/Selfridges/Zoeva
I bought this palette from Beauty Bay after hearing so many good reviews about it. I wanted to get a new eyeshadow palette and wanted to try out the Zoeva makeup range & had researched and had a look online and fell in love with this palette. A couple of my friends had also bought the Zoeva palettes and said how amazing the pigment was so i was expecting high things. I was not disapointed at all, the pigment is incredible and for £18.00 it is such amazing value. I pay £38.00 for a naked palette and £18.00 for this, however the pigmentation in this is a lot better in my opinion so i would reach for this over my urban decay palettes, which says a lot. It has 3 mattes in it; 1 brown, 1 grey and 1 black. It has 7 shimmer colours which are so beautiful. There's a couple of bronze colours, gold colours, coppers and dark brown shimmer as well. I am absoloutely loving this palette at the moment i would highly reccomend it. I want to try the cocoa blend one next! Also the packaging is beautiful :)
So that's it for my product reviews on my new makeup purchases, hopefully i persuaded you to check out these products and if so let me know how you find them in the comments below....
Love, Alice x
